My name is Jennifer Markowitz and I was born in Los Angeles, California. I am the oldest of three children and a first generation Mexican American. My mother is from, San Clemente, a small pueblo outside of Guadalajara, Mexico. I was raised with the ideal that family is the most important aspect in one’s life. We were raised to value the importance of education, especially since my mother never got to complete more than a fourth grade education. This having been instilled in us, it is my goal to be able to support families to the best of my ability, in order for them to create brighter futures for themselves.
I received by B.A. in Child development, from San Jose State. I am returning to the working world after having taken time off after the birth of my daughter, Elysia. I most recently worked in San Mateo County as a case manager serving low income youth in the mental health community. Prior to that, I worked for EMQ, Children and Family Services , in addiction prevention services and in the therapeutic residential program.
