Kay Matthews is an audit partner with more than 29 years of public accounting experience, is a Vice Chair and member of the Ernst & Young Americas and U.S. Executive Boards. Kay is also the Managing Partner for the West Sub-Area which includes our California, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, Alaska and Hawaii markets. For three years she served as the Americas Chief Operating Officer for Assurance and Advisory Business Services across North and South America, the Caribbean, and Israel. Prior to this role, Kay served as Americas Managing Partner of AABS Area Practices, Gulf Coast Area Managing Partner for AABS and Austin Office Managing Partner.
Over the course of her career she has worked in several Ernst & Young offices, including Houston and Austin, Texas; San Jose, California; and The Hague, The Netherlands, where she served clients in the software, semiconductor, aerospace and defense, and financial institutions industries. She also has in depth experience with SEC registration statements and business combinations executing initial public offerings and multiple secondary offerings.
Kay received a Bachelor of Business Administration with Honors, Accounting (1980) from Texas Tech University. She joined Ernst & Young in The Hague, The Netherlands. Kay, husband Tor, and their fourteen year old daughter Katherine, reside in the Bay Area. Kay is a board member of the California Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way of Silicon Valley and the Bay Area.
She is the recipient of multiple awards, including Business Trailblazer award, Women of Achievement award, Lady Justice Innovator Award. She was named one of the Women of Influence by the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
